Apple Pie Recipe:

Ingredients:
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, chilled
- 8-9 tablespoons ice water
- 6-7 large apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (for topping)

Instructions:
1. In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt together. Cut in the chilled butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
2. Gradually add ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, and mix until the dough comes together. Divide the dough in half, shape into discs, and wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
3. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
4. In another bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour. Toss well to coat the apples evenly.
5. Roll out one disc of dough on a floured surface and line a 9-inch (23 cm) pie dish with it. Trim any excess dough hanging over the edges.
6. Pour the apple mixture into the pie dish, spreading it evenly.
7. Roll out the second disc of dough and place it on top of the apple filling. Press the edges together to seal and crimp the edges with a fork or your fingers.
8. Cut a few slits on the top crust to allow steam to escape during baking.
9. Brush the top crust with beaten egg and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar.
10. Place the pie dish on a baking sheet to catch any drips and bake for about 50-60 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
11. Remove from the oven and allow the pie to cool before serving.
